First investigation in the edit
Someone always knows. We find out.
weSpy is a new newsroom. Our first investigation is being checked figure by figure. When it is ready it goes here, at the top of this page, and every story after it lands here too.
How we label evidence
- Established by the records
We checked it against documents or data anyone can look up, and we link to them.
- Reported by a source
A named organisation or publication says it. We say who, and link to where they said it.
- We could not verify
We found the claim but not the original document behind it, and we say so next to it.
- Still unresolved
The evidence conflicts, rests on estimates, or a check is still open.
